Terms of Service

Effective date: July 3, 2026

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and the operator of PaystubHero (“PaystubHero”, “we”, “us”), a business operated from Ontario, Canada, reachable at hello@paystubhero.ca. By creating an account, purchasing a subscription, or using paystubhero.ca (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What the Service is — and is not

PaystubHero is a self-serve document and calculation tool. It formats pay statements and estimates Canadian federal payroll amounts (CPP, CPP2, EI, and federal income tax) from figures you supply. The Service is not accounting, tax, or legal advice; it is not payroll software of record; and it does not verify, audit, or certify any information you enter. Calculations cover federal amounts only — provincial income tax is not calculated and must be handled separately. You are solely responsible for verifying every figure against CRA’s published requirements (or with a qualified professional) before relying on it, including before remitting source deductions.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your province) and using the Service for business record-keeping purposes to open an account.

3. Acceptable use — truthful records only

Every document generated with the Service must reflect real compensation actually paid by a business you own, control, or are authorized to act for. You represent that the employer, employee, dates, and amounts you enter are true and match your payroll, banking, and CRA records. You must not use the Service to:

We may suspend or terminate any account we reasonably believe is violating this section, without refund.

4. Your account

Keep your credentials confidential; you are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us immediately at hello@paystubhero.ca if you suspect unauthorized access.

5. Plans, billing, and renewal

6. Setup-help service

The optional paid “setup help” service is product assistance only: we help you enter your own figures into PaystubHero. It is not accounting, tax, or legal advice, and it does not include verifying your numbers. Do not send us more personal information than needed.

7. Your content and our IP

You own the information you enter and the documents you generate; you grant us the limited right to process that information to operate the Service. The Service itself — software, design, name, and site content — belongs to us or our licensors and may not be copied or resold.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Tax rates and rules change; calculations are estimates that you must verify before use. We do not warrant that any document generated will be accepted by any third party.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (or $50 CAD if you paid nothing). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including CRA or other government penalties, interest, assessments, lost profits, or losses arising from decisions made in reliance on the Service. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places these limits apply to the fullest extent permitted.

10. Indemnity

You will indemnify us against claims, damages, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your violation of law, or any third party’s reliance on a document you generated.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time by emailing hello@paystubhero.ca. We may suspend or terminate the Service or your account for breach of these Terms or where required by law. Sections 3 and 7–13 survive termination.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date, and continued use after that date is acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario. Courts located in Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction, and you and we each waive any objection to that venue, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
